Botanical name: Microsorum Diversifolium
Common name: Kangaroo Paw Fern
Height: 6" - 8" inches
I've kept a few plats alive and looking for something more challenging than a ZZ (Intermediate)
Native to Australia (who would of thunk?) the Kangaroo Paw Fern has firm and glossy dark green leathery fronds accompanied by long (kinda hairy) rhizomes that like to escape the pot. The growth pattern is pretty wild, with fronds of all sizes shooting off in every direction possible, making the Paw an excellent choice for hanging baskets or table centrepieces.
While the height indoors will typically max out at about 12 inches, they can have a spread of 2-3 feet when mature. Our current 4" pots are approximately 6"-8" inches in height.
Bright, indirect light works best. Keep out of full direct sun.
Maintain moderate moisture for these ferns. Allow the top half of the soil to dry out before watering and ensure you give your Kangaroo fern enough water so you can see excess water drain out of the bottom of it's growers container.
A well draining porous soil works well when re potting.
Humans: Safe and non-toxic
