Botanical name: Philodendron Narrow
Common name: Narrow Tiger Tooth, Narrow Escape, Shark’s tooth
I want to create the illusion that I can take care of plants -- without actually being really good at taking care of plants. Well, this could be for you. (Novice)
Foliage: Welcome to the jungle! With long narrow, serrated jungle green leaves (that can reach up to 2-3 ft in length) will make your urban home instantly have a tropical vibe. Allow this plant to have lots of room to spread its leaves.
Size: Typically 1 to 2 feet in height. But may grow larger with a moss pole for its aerial roots to climb onto.
Light: Medium to bright indirect is best. While it can tolerate some direct light as it matures, keep out of direct light when it’s a baby Tiger.
Water: Prefers to be on the drier side before watering. Wait for the top 2-3 inches of soil to dry out in between watering. Make sure to provide adequate hydration when watering (you should see water flow through the drainage holes to ensure the roots are getting saturated). Enjoys humidity and won’t bite if you give it an occasional mist here and there.
Soil: Choose a well draining rich, premium tropical soil for a happy plant. Re-pot if quite root bound to allow for growth.
Humans: Lovely to look at but are highly toxic if consumed.
Pets: Yes, toxic to cats and dogs.
